Terms of Service
Last updated 8 November 2026
These terms are a contract between you and noKhaos (“Outlier”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using tryoutlier.io you agree to them. We have tried to keep them short and readable.
1. What Outlier is
Outlier is a research tool. You give it a public Instagram username, hashtag or keyword, and it shows you publicly available posts and engagement figures, ranks them against the account's own baseline, and lets you save and download public media for study. Outlier is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 and give accurate information. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your password private. One account is for one person; share a team plan by inviting people, not by sharing a login. Tell us at outlier@nokhaos.com if you think your account has been compromised.
3. Acceptable use
Outlier only works on public content, and that is the only way you may use it. You agree not to:
- use downloaded media in a way that infringes the rights of the creator, including republishing it as your own or without a licence where one is required;
- use the service to harass, stalk, profile or target individuals, or to build datasets about people;
- circumvent plan limits, scrape or bulk-export the service, resell access, or probe it for vulnerabilities without written permission;
- use the service in breach of any law, platform terms or third-party rights that apply to you.
Downloading a post does not transfer any rights in it. Copyright stays with the creator. You are responsible for how you use what you download.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until cancelled. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record, whose checkout terms also apply. You can cancel at any time from Settings; you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and no further charges are made. Refunds are handled under Paddle's buyer terms; if you were charged in error, write to us and we will sort it out.
Plan limits (searches, downloads, tracker slots) reset monthly and do not roll over. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice, which takes effect at your next renewal.
5. Data accuracy and availability
Engagement figures come from public sources and are refreshed periodically, so they can lag or differ from what Instagram shows. Outlier scores and “outlier” labels are our own calculations and are provided for information only. We aim for high availability but the service is provided “as is”, and we may change or withdraw features.
6. Your content
Collections, notes and tracker lists you create belong to you. You grant us the limited licence needed to store and show them back to you. You can delete them at any time, and deleting your account removes them.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of Outlier, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse the service or the people whose content it surfaces, or fail to pay. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Sections that by their nature should survive (payment, liability, acceptable use) do.
9. Changes and contact
If we make material changes to these terms we will email account holders before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms. Questions go to outlier@nokhaos.com. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
